Description

This is a brand new 440 Stainless Steel razor sharp black finished full tang Japanese Ninja Sword, also known as Ninjato, Ninjaken, or Shinobi Katana. This Ninja Sword features high 440 Stainless Steel blade, hand forged and sharpened. Entire blade is black finished to enforce ninja’s stealth capability. The scabbard is wooden with high gloss black lacquer finisher, with a golden Shinobi character painted on it.  The scabbard also features a wooden needle blowgun at its bottom.  The tsuba of this sword is the traditional square design made by blackened steel.

This sword is made with high temper 440 Stainless steel that can cut steel wire without chipping. It is a full tang sword and can be fully disassembled. The blade was created by combining two pieces of steel with different hardiness into one solid piece (iron wrap process) and differentially tempering it until desired hardiness has been achieved.


History

The Ninja Sword, also known as ninjato, ninjaken, or shinobi katana, is the sword a ninja would have carried.  These swords came in a variety of shapes and sizes. Often, the traditional ninjatos were much shorter than the traditional daito katana used by the samurai of feudal Japan.

Modern ninjato are often made straight with a square tsuba (hand guard).  Historically, however, the ninja ken was straight, but only in contrast to the average sword of the period which were much more curved. Traditional ninjaken still had a slight curve to the sword.
